Legacy Homeschool Enrichment Monday Olathe Kindergarten

Kindergarten

Our Kindergarten Enrichment class gives young learners a joyful, gentle introduction to group learning in a Christ-centered environment. Through stories, songs, hands-on activities, and simple projects, students practice early literacy and math skills, develop fine and gross motor skills, and learn how to work and play well with others. We focus on curiosity, kindness, and a love of learning—laying a strong foundation for future academics and character growth.

Grades 1-8

Early years are crucial for young minds. At Legacy, we give your students an opportunity to create, explore, and get active while they’re surrounded by eager and friendly peers. Each class supplements the students’ daily school curriculum with engaging subjects that enrich their education.

Classes

History

History class brings the past to life through stories, maps, timelines, and hands-on projects. Students learn about important people, places, and events from world and American history, always considering how God is at work in every era. Younger grades focus on simple narratives and big-picture ideas; older grades explore cause and effect, primary sources, and how history shapes the world we live in today.

Science

Science invites students to explore God’s creation with curiosity and wonder. Through experiments, observations, and interactive lessons, students investigate topics such as life science, earth science, and physical science. Younger students enjoy simple, sensory-rich activities, while older students engage in more structured experiments and scientific thinking. We emphasize asking good questions, careful observation, and seeing the order and beauty in God’s world.

Art

In Art, students explore God’s creativity and their own through drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and mixed media projects. Each unit introduces age-appropriate techniques, elements of art (line, color, shape, texture, form), and selected artists or art styles. Students learn to express ideas visually, build confidence in their abilities, and care for materials, while older grades also practice planning, critique, and more detailed work.

Foreign Language

Foreign Language class introduces students to the sounds, words, and cultures of another language (e.g., Spanish) in a fun, interactive way. Younger students learn through songs, games, stories, and simple vocabulary, while older students begin to build basic conversational skills, reading, and writing. Throughout the course, we highlight how learning another language helps us love and serve people from different cultures around the world.

Music

Music class invites students to discover rhythm, melody, and expression through singing, movement, and instruments. Younger students enjoy songs, games, and simple percussion, while older students learn basic music theory, note reading, and ensemble skills. We explore a variety of musical styles, including hymns and worship songs, and encourage students to use their musical gifts to glorify God and bless others.

Physical Education

P.E. helps students develop healthy habits, coordination, and sportsmanship in a fun, active setting. Through age-appropriate games, fitness activities, and basic sports skills, students learn teamwork, perseverance, and respect for others. We emphasize doing your best, encouraging classmates, and caring for the bodies God has given us—rather than competition alone.

LANA EVANS
Campus Director

After graduating from Washburn University with a bachelor’s degree in mass media, and an emphasis in public relations, Lana began working full-time at Kansas Family Partnership (KFP). Although no longer operating, KFP was a nonprofit organization that provided resources, education, and support regarding substance abuse prevention. As the Youth Engagement Specialist, Lana managed their social media presence and enjoyed working with students across Kansas. In 2010, Lana moved to Denver, Colorado where she met her husband, Scott, and had three beautiful children. Blessed to be a stay-at-home mom, her family agreed homeschooling was the right path for them. In 2022, they moved to Kansas, bringing with them the homeschooling ideals and experiences gained in Colorado. Currently, her children are ages nine, seven, and three. With a passion for homeschooling and the desire for a Christ-centered community, Lana began directing Legacy Enrichment Center’s Topeka campus. She works hard to cultivate a supportive community with a learning environment of positivity, wonder, and joy for home-educated children.
